Sorry, Joe. I'm not trying to get you mad...just saying I would have done it differently. Wet/drys tend to be nitrate magnets unless cleaned regularly.

I suppose you could replace the bio-balls(that's what's in part of it, right?) with some LR rubble.

so you really think i should remove the bio balls and put live rock in there and then still keep the cabin in there?

the only reason why I'm mad is i got a bad deal.

I'm not sure how much wet/drys normally cost. I just now they are generally much more expensive than building a sump.

LR is a natural filter media, where as BB will just collect the stuff(mechanical?). LR has micro-organisms in it that are basically doing the nutrient "export", where as bio-balls are collecting nutrients which are removed when you clean the balls.

    Cabin? I'm confused...

tanks lookin great, and yeah, live rock/rubble is very porous and will become much more saturated with the deep anerobic(sp?)bacteria for denitrification.Bio balls, after saterated just start collecting gunk, more than the bacteria can handle,so they become nitrate factories.

When you remove the bio-balls be sure to do it slowly. As you remove them the rest of your system has to take up their bio load. If you remove them all at once you may have an ammonia spike.

    BTW: The tank looks GREAT
