Mag18's are nice pumps, somewhat quiet. They seem to run a little quieter when running submerged. But they do produce a lot of heat.

The Mag 18 is a great pump...love it. It is a bit noisy but not too bad. Very easy to do maintenance when the pump is external.

Also just to address a few folks above. The CPR's work perfectly with my current setup...the only micro bubbles I get is a result of air being evacuated from the CPR c tubes. As for the 90 degree angles lowering my pump flow I am aware of it and are not concerned with a decrease if flow.

The tank is in my living room...hard wood floors and I can't risk any overflows due to back syphoning. The HD checkvalves are big, but they work.

    thanks for the comments.

Couple other things I noticed steel clamps holding hoses, you may want to replace them with nylon style or even pandiut(zip) ties cuz the saltwater will do number on them. Also I would get the power strip mounted at least 4 inches off the bottom of the stand just in case accidental flooding occurs it will help tp keep power from water. there are usually slots or holes to mount them with in the back of the strip and if not you could double stick tape it

Birdlady......not a problem that's why I love discussion boards like this...you might start a topic and it takes you somewhere else.

    Thanks for the input everybody.

Well algae is not always part of the cycle.  I have yet to have a lick of algae in my tank!  Zero, ziltch, nada.  I used all new water and all base rock. [/quote]

I too have had several of my tanks never go thru a algae cycle either. I went slow, skimmed heavy and went with MH's.
