I have two pistol shrimps that arrived on my live rock, well i had 3 really but i caught one & got rid as i thought it was a mantis shrimp! ( in my learning days!) I have found one of my pistols home.........under one of my big LR & at night when i have the blue led on i can watch him dig out his hole but i have only ever seen his claw & whiskers as he seems to shy and he's only little. Im sure there is one more in there as i here little clicks from one part of my tank but at the back at the other end i hear really loud clicks so i guess there must be a bigger one in there somewhere......

I would definitely recommend you to get a watchman goby, they will look after each other and are more likely to live longer. Not only does my gobies keep watch for danger so that the shrimp can be more active during the day, the shrimp cleans my gobies and I have seen the gobies take food (even shedded exoskeletons from my other shrimp) and give them to the goby to keep it well fed.

I just got a Tiger Pistol Shrimp and just 2 days later he and the yellow watchman took their claim under some LR. Here is the Tiger Pistol just cleaning out his borrow.
