Had an amazing week in Turks and Caicos last week, litterally the best snorkel adventure I ever had. Most of these I saw from shore but the octopus and shark were part of a boat tour. Saw one school of about 1000 fishshoot all around me and at first I was like wow, then I was like - I wonder what's chasing them...

Here are a few more, the water was a bit cloudy most days due to the heavy sediment. It was an almost gurantee that you would see triggers, barracuda, parrotfish, butterflys, chromis, tangs, grunts, damsels and groupers.

In terms of corals, mostly fans and a lot of sponges. There were hard corals too but they were far and few between other than brain corals from where I was allowed to snorkle (don't go in coeral areas where water is less than 4 feet deep).

oh, forgot the shark, he swam right under me, my son was a bit disappointed with me, he was hoping for a toothier shot.

Nice. I will be heading to Saint Kitts in a couple of weeks. Hope the snorkeling there is nice. The best place I've ever snorkeled was in Belize. Belize has some of the best coral reefs I've seen personally.

Very nice pictures, Skylark. That's also one of my dreams. I want to go on vacation and scuba down nice reefs around the world! Wouldn't that be a thrill!?

    How big was the shark?

The shark was small, maybe about 5 feet long. The octopus was also a big thrill for me too.

cgarner, while I was there a few others told me that Belize was also an incredible experiance and I want to try and get there in about 2 years. I only snorkled three spots in total in Turks and I know there are a few others that are supposed to be even more spectacular. Most of the pictures I have are from the Coral Gardens site.

+1 to Belize. I've been to a few different islands in the Caribbean, and Belize was the best IMO. Check out San Pedro, ambergris caye, Belize if your trying to vacation there. Best snorkel/dive spots in country for sure. A really cool little town too.
