I am awaiting to hear about a new position. If I get the job then I will be making significantly more money and a new house is in order. Which means, of course, a new tank LOL. I have been researching. I believe that if everything goes well I want a 96" in wall tank. I have been looking at different sizes but it is hard to find pics of certain things. Then it is even harder to tell relevance in size to something. As of now I am trying to find good pics of a 96x36x36 with something in the pic to tell relevance. If anyone has any or can find any that would be awesome. I have googled my brains out. Also, what do you guys think of this size of tank for a mixed reef? I believe the gallonage ends up being 460 on that size.

Also... i like to view multiple sides of my tank. So an in-wall may not be 100% what I need. I figured with an 8 foot tank though that there would be enough to see without having to view the sides. Just tossing out ideas.

If you really want to up the viewable area for you tank, do a peninsula install. 96"x36" would give you 19 feet of viewable glass. Even 72"x36" would give you 15 feet of view and you could do this with a stock 300gal Marineland tank. One thing to keep in mind with taller tanks like a 36" or my 49" is that you need to plan for 400W MH to reach the bottom (assuming you plan SPS). Also taller tank=thicker glass=more expensive tank but if you are planning an 8 foot tank the pleasure your derive probably outways trivial issues such as money. I will say that now matter how hard you try to visualize things, the tank always looks bigger once you get it into the space. If you are really motivated though, you could get some big carboard boxes or even some Luan and make a mockup the size of the tank you are considering.

I thought about the cardboard... i would probably be just fine with a 72" tank.
That is what I have now but it is only a 125.. so not very thick or tall.
It all really depends on how much space I have in the new house ultimately.
This is dreaming/researching. I will definately want bigger, just want to see how big I can go. Lighting is a major issue though agreed, as it always is. Also the effect on the electric bill.
