Here is a video I took of a gorgeous pair of Pictillis Anthias also called Painted Anthias. I purchased these Monday after I did some research and got a great price on this rarety to the hobby. They are from Australia. The male is between 3 and 4 inches long the body is a blue/pink and the tail has a white circle with red accent, the female is about 3 inches long with a blue/pink body and a distinctive yellow/orange back end. Picasso couldn't do any better.:)

OK um I don't know what you mean by moved to fish board?

In a tank like mine with the diversity of fish it's always a challenge with new fish and I have to keep my fingers crossed. I bought them on Monday and they seem to be fine although they do stay in their corner and never cross over the tank. The usual hazing from tankmates has simmered but there is still a long road to go. They don't join up with the other anthias and I'm wondering if it's because they are so different. Time will tell. I need to get them to eat something so I'm going down to the LFS for some live brine shrimp. I'm also going to try some garlic as I've heard that's a good way to get them started. Aside from my experiences with copperband butterflies I'm used to seeing the fish eat right away. I'll keep posted.

I feed a mixed diet of assorted flake food, frozen food and cyclopeeze. I feed the fish 3 times a day.

hmm cyclopeeze is usually good enough to get them started :-/

you can try some fresh diced clams/mussels/oysters/scallops/shrimp from your local grocery store if you have to... that has worked for me before

or like you said go to the lfs and grab some live brine! good luck

I would be cautious of using live food, I've been told it can bring disease into the aquarium. Good luck with getting them to eat. One of my anthias would not eat anything, and when she finally started eating it was with super garlic-y Cyclopeeze. Anthias also prefer to "hunt" their food, so try squirting it into the current. Good luck!

    They are beautiful!
