I'm a bit of a photographer myself, even started up my own business. Just small time stuff, family photos, website pics, etc. Here's two of my favorite.

Very nice! I sell some through stock companies, but not even close to enough to call myself pro.

How is that going? I've always wondered if getting into that was worth it. My mom has taught me how to mat and frame prints as well so if I do family portraits or anything else I can always offer to do the mat and framing as well. It makes for a great combo.

The hard part is getting photos approved to be on the site. They judge by a different criteria than we're used to. they market to a specific crowd and you have to do the same. It's free and works well for some though, so why not?

Here's the one I've had the best luck with:

I just purchased my first DSLR couple weeks ago. You guys mind listing camera settings? That is, if, you remember. I'm in the market for a zoom and macro lense.

I usually shoot in AV mode. I like to set my depth of field and as long as shutter speed is still acceptable I leave it alone. F8 is my favorite. Always keep ISO as low as you possible can to get the shot.

On the picture with motion blur I was in TV mode. That allows you to set shutter speed as low as you need for some blur and aperture falls in line naturally. I also shot that one with an external flash set to second curtain sync. This fires the flash at the end of the exposure. This means the blurs burn into the image during the entire exposure than the flash fires at the end imposing a sharp image over everything else.

When you shop for your lenses try to get stabilized ones. They do cost more, but they are worth their weight in gold when the lights dim down.

Sigma makes good lenses and are a lot cheaper than Canon, Nikon, or Sony lenses. Quality is very good and I love mine, it's a 70-200mm f/2.8, a must have IMO if you want to do stuff like sports. They also make a 100mm macro lens which will be my next purchase. For macro coral shots, that's the lens to get. As far as settings, I either use Aperature Priority or Full Manual mode. I always try to keep ISO at 400 or lower, shutter speeds above 1/100, and aperature varies depending on the situation. f/2.8 for fast action, f/5-7 for anything really, and f/11+ for when I have a tripod and a still subject. If you have any questions, feel free to PM me.
