I brought home an Acro frag today that was purchased from my LFS. When I got home I noticed a small piece about 1/4" long had broken off. I didn't want to throw it away so I just set it in a nook high in the tank and secure from possible hermit tip-over. Question is, will it grow?

    If the conditions are right
and it does not get dragged away by general activity in the tank

then IME, it has a good chance

Yep it will! Basically the ride home fragged it. Now you have two!

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
Happens to me all the time. I just stick one end in a hole in the lr where it gets good light and no to much flow and they encrust and grow.:)

Awesome!! That's pretty much what I did. Spot where there's sufficient lighting but not so much flow as to blow it away. Thanks everyone. It's an ORA something verde...lol. Don't remember the full name that the LFS owner said but I do know verde is Spanish for green and it is pretty green under actinics. I have it low for now to acclimate but it was under 20k MH so it shouldn't have much of a problem adjusting to my LED's.

it shoudl I have had entire colonies grow out of a 1/4" piece. in fact, I have 3 pieces that if you put them together now, they will be about an inch long total.

Just wondering on an approximate time period before you notice growth in these "iddy bitty" pieces?! Lol
