    Here is a 50 that I started 6 months ago, I have no mechanical filtration at all except the Remora Pro Mag 3 skimmer.

    I have no sump, it has a Fluval 205 & 305 for general circulation and the Fluvals only have the bio media in the cups (NO FILTERS), It has 2 Korila 2's 1 low and 1 high on oposite sides.
    This gives me a total of 1325GPH moving though this tank

    There is a grounding probe & digital thermometer

    48" SunDial T5HO with 4 - 54watt T5's 2-10k/2-460nm actinics

    I Use Kent Marine Tech 1, Kent Strotium & Molybdenum, Purple up and alternate with Kent Turbo Calcium, as well I use Kent Superbuffer dKH and maybe every 4-6 weeks i use a littel Kent Zoecon.

    Nitrate = .5
    SG = 1.025
    PO = 0
    KH = 8.5
    CA = 480
    Temp = 77.6f (never has been above 79 or lower than 76.5)
    RO/DI Water TDS <1%

    Was trying to figure out how to add the pic and all I can get is a thumbnail. I do not use photo vault sites.

    Thank you :)

    It has been fun

    I had a 240 in a larger house 10yrs ago and people thought I was crazy as it was setup just like this one with no sump and no filtration. I did have a very large Berlin Skimmer running off an overflow box on that one.

    Ok so I got a wild hair yesterday. Lets let me first give a little background, my tank is in my living room and now the wife wants that spot for the Cristmas tree LOL
    So I decided to move the tank to my office in the front of the house.
    But to make it easy lets go buy a new stand. Ok did that Friday night, woke up yesterday and said well you know what would make the move easier.........a new tank!
    So back to the LFS and got a new 65 that would fit the stand I bought the day before. LOL (Yes my wife thinks I am nutts)

    So I saw a tank at the LFS that was using Hawaiian black reef sand (course) looked great with a black background too!

    So 60lbs of sand and a new tanks and then the wife saw two nice pieces of old staghorn with some shrums and polyps on them so they came home too.

    So the new build starts today.

    Adding a platform to the top of the stand as I like the shelves to the side to put stuff when working on the tanks, the stand id 36" wide I amd going with a 48" pice of ash plywood stained to match the trim in my office so that gives me 6' shelves on each side and then 4" in the front.

    Going to do it this way:

    1. paint back of tank
    2. stain new top and put on trim
    3.take LR from old tank and put in new tank, put livestock and corals in buckets with aeration and put my 24" T5 Sundial lights over them just for stability and less shock
    4. Add a couple pounds of the CC from old tank and spead on the bottom evenly (my seeding of new sand)
    5. Add new Black sand
    6. Add 25-30 gals of new saltwater @ 1.025
    7. drain 20-25 gals of old tank water and put in new tank, add powerheads
    8. add corals
    9. add fish & inverts
    10.move pumps and skimmer over to new tank
    11. move light hood to new tank
    12. leave lights off for 24hrs but leave LED's on
    13. Have a beer and post pictures of the build and move LOL
    14. Put old tank on Craigslist
    15. Go back to work Monday...Blah!

    Next weekend.....setup new 30 gallon hospital tank i always wanted!

    Any suggestions?

    If anything the Sailfin is a bit too big...I am going to put him in the new 65 and see how he does......might have to trade him for a juvy
    He grew really fast like 1.5 in 6 months
