You will from me though. ;)

Clams at the sizes we get in the hobby/ trade are already fully photosynthetic and do not require any additional feeding. Do they get additional feedings of phyto from the rest of the tank, sure they do but certainly don't need extra food beyond light to be 100% healthy.

There have been much research on this, and the consensus that the professionals have come up with is that they don't need any additional food beyond light at the size of clams we get in the trade.

That said, a FW dip (and an air bubble burp) would be the best treatment. FW dips are like a near cure all for clams.

Ah, yeah, about that. I just said that considering my tank setup instead of the norm.

I don't have a sump, just a compartment in the back where the skimmer is. It's pretty much inline with the higher flow powerhead.

My first maxima clam I got had PM, I did a f/w dip but I guess it was to late because it ended up die'n :-/
Could it be because I was to late? The guy I bought it from his SG was 1.028 & Ca- 500
    I keep my levels at 1.024 & Ca- 450
    Could it have been that?

One thing I was reading was that Maximas have a tendancy to ship harder then most clams when they ship them to us under 3" I forgot where I read that and I dont know how much there is to it but. Just figured Id throw that out there.

Hard to say X. I can't believe the guy had his tank at 1.028.

Your levels are more realistic, I doubt that had anything to do with it.

FWIW, I keep my crocea in 1.027. I can't imagine getting it up another point though... wow.

I FW dipped it for 18 minutes before putting it in DT and burping...

Well my clam didn't seem to be getting any better so I gave it a 10 min F/W dip, With the same DT pH & Temp. When it was in the F/W it kept closing & opening every like 1-3 secs. Normal or Bad?
