so my sand on top starts to turn pink. I used to have a pic but I deleted it. its NOT red slime... I dont know what it is I have since then done a water change and stirred up the sand. but it just starts to get pink on top.. its not like a layer.. its like each individual grain of sand its being dyed pink. Im thinking maybe coraline algae? idk... tell me your thoughts sorry no pic :/

hmmmm I know its not bad but is there anyway to stop it. I dont really want my sand being pink and its ONLY on my sand its not on the rocks or anything else.

is your tank just cycling? ive never had corraline grow on my sand. feel it and if its all crusty then its coraline. im guessing some randome algae bloom from cycling if you are.

+1. Never heard of coralline growing on the sand either. Now, when my cyano is trying to grow on the sand, it turns pink first. If it gets left alone, it turns into full blown cyano.

Same here. Had this problem untill I increased the flow and started rinsing food.

If you have fine sand than it is most likely not coralline. My sand is not sugar grain size sand and I get coralline growth on some of the larger grain sizes.
