If you don't mind me asking, how much did it cost you? Every Anthias i've seen are super expensive.
I also hear they have ferocious appetites, and have to be feed at least 4x a day.

Not sure if my statements are correct,so anyone who can shed some light, it would be appreciated.

It's recommended to feed 3 X per day . I'm still developing my technique for that. I think that's the biggest drawback of the fish. Not that I mind feeding him .. I'm just out of town often.
I have changed the way I feed. I'm using a turkey baster to give him a squirt and he comes directly to it. For when I'm out of town he'll have to get flakes off of the auto feeder.
I think pink squares are 30 some bucks on liveaquaria.com +shipping
Mine was 60 some at the store. Maybe because they're so big. I've seen regular green chromis there for $20 a piece but they were huge.. maybe 5 inches... which they say on places like liveaquaria that they don't get that big. The same for these pink squares they had one that was 6-7 inches..
One of the stores here has some Bartletts that were 69$ and I guess they're not selling so they were $50 the other day I noticed. The prices vary wildly around town here. Some of the other various anthias seem to go $30 and up to that.
That's what I was thinking about getting(the bartlett) until I saw the male pink square. So much brighter color and larger.

My Yellow tang bumped him a few times the first day, but now he seems to get along good. That was my biggest worry.

WOW! So i guess i've been looking in thr wrong places. I was at my LFS, which is notorious for being astronomically over priced, and all the Anthias i've seen were $199.00.
Maybe they are some special type, but i'm not sure of which variation thet were.

Good luck with yours. Enjoy :cheesy:

yeah may be something special. The store had some purple anthias for a while. They were the prettiest I've seen $40. I can't even find a pic of them on the Internet. By the time I made up my mind that I wanted one the only one left had a big wound in his side. So they sold him to me for $20. I thought maybe I could nurse him back to health. He went straight in the rocks two months ago and I neversaw him again

Well... sadly I think the pink square is dead. I haven't lost a fish in a long time so I'm perplexed. He's been acting funny for a bout a week Hiding in the rocks and the back. He stopped eating a couple days ago. Can't find him today. I had a nitrate spike after stirring some sand but everything else is in order. He was going down hill before that. Can't figure it out.

I've got one in my tank also. Gorgeous fish. I'm looking to add a couple of females. Supposedly they don't do well in brightly light tanks but i've got MH's and mine swims around lovin life.
Absolutly one of the most beautiful fish in the hobby IMO.

Wow just saw your last post. Sorry dude. +1

I've since done some research and found that they don't typically do that great under intense reef lighting. They do seem to lose color with the lack of females and other anthias as well. But it's the lighting that I've heard don't bode well for them. Sorry for your loss.
