Hi all, I'm new to the forum so I'll put up an introduction and some details shortly. I came to you on searching for help with a pH meter I have.

I just recieved a PinPoint pH meter but it will not calibrate with the supplied pH4, 7 or 10 fluids. The pH 7 fluid comes out at 6.50 and the device will not adjust the reading any higher. The pH 10 fluid comes out at 8.00 when adjusted to the max. I have tried different batches of fluid and I get the same result. Normal tap water comes out at 7, but then so does my tank water - which is a little worrying!

I have also tried different brand new batteries and a 9v supply from a mains adapter. Does anyone else have one of these who can assist me with setting it up?

I saw a post by James 37128 - any advice?

    Cheers, D.

I had this problem before also, seems that the probes are very fragile and get damaged very easily (sometimes before they even get shipped to you). I could find no damage, but had exactly the same problem as you, couldn't get the probe in range to calibrate. Pinpoint's customer service was pretty good, I called them, they said send it in with a small note and they will send a new one. Within the next week I had a new probe that worked fine. 1.800.925.4689

    PinPoint pH meter problems

Cheers, thanks for that, saves me trying endless bags of calibration fluid seeing if one was a bad batch.

    Thanks for your help,
    D

If the probe ever got dry and the tip was not in solution for a lont period of time then you will have to buy another one.
