That is a beautiful tank. I can only aspire to have a tank like that one day! Clove Polyp. I just don't want a whole bunch of polyps is my only thing. I would like a variety!

Well thanks for them anyway. Is it called a pipe organ because its stems look like organ pipes?

I think Gazog is saying the same thing, it's called a pipe organ because of the skeleton's appearance, not the coral.

I hate days like these! did not even realize that I posted that, turned away for a minute and I must have hit mouse! LOL.... that could get someone in real trouble you know!

To finish the thought.. Yep, their skeleton looks just like a big old pipe organ with big pipe and little pipes. I used to have a large dead piece in my fish only tank that was a nice deep red color.

Anyone know what makes them so hard to take care of?

Sensitive to water quality, can not tolerate aggressive coral near by, should be spot fed.
They are not impossible just difficult. And what is difficult for some comes easy for others. Some people can't grow Xenia, but do well with harder corals. I had one over a year and died in a few hours when my heater stuck.
