so would i be better off going with 2 pipes, no mandarins. I could try to wean them on to frozen. Do they eat as much as the mandarins do?

I dont think they do, but i could be wrong. I would go with only one pipefish, that will be enough work.

Sloooooooooooooooooooooooooow down... Just like other reefers, relax... I have a 29gal that I have had for over a year now. On my signature you'll see my setup. I still wouldn't put a Mandarin in my tank. I'm going to a 90gal now with a 40gal sump/fuge. Rushing it with an under sized system is going just disappoint you, kill livestock, & give aquariums a bad wrap. (Like we need anymore)

Proven fact a smaller tank is harder to maintain than a larger one, less room for error, & should only be attempted by experienced individuals. These are saltwater fish & not your LFS betta that can live in it's tainted water.

My advice is simple. Listen to others here. If you can't invest the proper time & money and not trying to sound crude, but this hobby is not for you.

If you do, then welcome aboard. Your limits are your imagination, money, & other half. LOL....;D
