ive found that its a real species the micrognathus crinitus, just not a widely kept one. its native to the shores of around florida. besides that im lost on this certain species. there WC (which almst all pipefish are, only a few are captive bred right now) so there very inexpensive where im getting them. so i should call around and try and find a place that has brine shrimp adults? couldnt i mix in some dead BS to help get them on frozen?

how did you do it with your gulf pipefish incognito?

The hardest part was getting them to come out when I was around. They can be very nervous at first. I started with adult BS and moved onto frozen brine and then included H2O mysis.

im gonna go for it. i wont get it for a couple months anyhow. gotta let the copepods build up more. ima buy the macro algae and copepods after i get the TDS meter and RO/DI machine (later this week perhaps)

i know it might not be a smart idea, but i just really want to try.

there are two species im looking at getting:

    micrognathus crinitus (harlquin pipefish)
    or
    sygnathus leptorhynchus. (bay pipefish)

ar either one of these widely kept incognito?

They're probably collected around florida and by the looks of them, should have similar care requirements to what we call the gulf pipe.

I didn't take very good pics back them :-/
