Does anyone know if it's easy to get a pistol shrimp to pair with a goby? I'm looking at getting a pistol shrimp and a yellow watchman goby but I have no idea how to pair them.

If the pistol shrimp is one that naturally in the wild will pair with that kind of goby, then they will pair up pretty readily.

It is a 100% symbiotic relationship, so both critters benefit from the pairing.

The shrimp makes a nice house, but can't see very well, and the goby has great vision, but can't make a house like a shrimp.

I was able to see a wild pair of a goby and shrimp while diving in Fiji. It was pretty amazing.

Add them both at the same time and hope for the best. Even with any shrimp/goby combination, there is no 100% guarantee though.

    Exactly what Pack said.

My pistol shrimp has actually been paired with 3 gobies. The first one was a high fin (they were paired together in the LFS). We acclimated them and added them together, but the goby just never seemed "right" in the tank, was very skittish, didn't eat, etc. They never paired up and the goby died. :( We then added a pink bar (aurora) goby. They paired up immediately and did well until the goby jumped out (pre canopy days). Finally, we added a yellow watchman. They paired up immediately and have been together for months now.

Cool! That's the pair I'm wanting to go with. ;D
