According to liveaquaria, this shrimp will pair with Valenciennea. Better grab him quickly. Actually, i have read in several articles that the diamond goby will pair up with pistol shrimp. however, i have not tried this myself.

My diamond goby doesn't seem to have any trouble digging his own burrow. i guess if you add a pistol shrimp, it just gives the goby an excuse to be lazy.

Interesting, hadn't heard of that before. Elsewhere on their site they don't mention Valenciennea.

My previous diamond goby would not go anywhere near my tiger pistol shrimp. they are watchman gobies so it MIGHT be possible, but I would think the goby would be more interested in sifting sand. He was usually all over the tank.

I have since added an aurora goby and he immediately paired with the pistol shrimp and the only time he leaves his burrow area is to eat or if the shrimp is working elsewhere in the tank.

this is good info. i definitely want my diamond goby sifting all over the tank. i don't want him staying in one place.
