pistol shrimp set up?

    According to that article they are scavengers, that means they eat food that is already dead/dying, not hunt.
    I know the youtube video you're talking about. I am a little skeptical of how realistic that is, it's obviously very "produced" with the sound effects etc. AFAIK their snapping "pistol" is just for defense, not hunting.

    No offense meant, but I wonder if you might be under the wrong impression based off of that youtube video.

    My pistol shrimp has killed a cleaner shrimp, I seen him do it.

    i know what im talking about. they use it to hunt too. yes they are scavengers but they are also hunters. one of my lfs feed their pistols with feeder shrimp.

    OK, that could be. I've never seen mine do anything remotely like that, they rarely even come out of their burrow.
