    I already have a Cleaner Shrimp in my 30g tank.. and I wanted to get a pair of pistol shrimp and a yellow watchman goby... but after watching this video:

    I am having second doubts.. are pistols aggressive? I also have 2clownfish one of them being juvenille and a green chromy..

    thanx

    interesting....i mean, the proof is in the video, that they obviously don't get along...but I have had both in my reef for about 3 months now without an issue..:-/

    I HATE THAT VIDEO :angry::beadyeyes:furious::bomb::end:

    I have had a tiger pistol for about 1 year and 3 months. We've had our cleaner shrimp for a tad less than that. They get along fine no problems what so ever. Not only that, I've seen other shrimp with pistols in their tank. Including a frag tank at my LFS that had not only a pistol and goby combo, but 2 hitchhiking mantis in the tank.

    My 2 cents

    Wow that is a neat video. I am having doubts now about getting some cleaner shrimp. I thought they were harmless. I wonder if he can kill fish as well. I have had some disapearing fish. I have heard people talking about clicking soise coming from their tank. that must be the clicking.

    Pistol shrimp are mostly non aggressive. That whole video was staged to be stupid. Notice the gun noises when the pistol "fires". My pistol clicks at stuff all the time in our tank, and hasn't hurt a thing. He even man handles our serpent star when the star goes into his den.

    Pistol shrimp aren't mindless killers that go around clicking stuff to death. Same goes for mantis shrimp. Believe me, I own both.

    If you replace "stuff" with "crustaceans", I imagine the mantis part doesn't exactly hold true ;D

    Eh, keep them fed, and they pretty much leave stuff alone. Our largest mantis Bo will move snails just to keep them away from his den. He'll hit them to make them let go of the glass or rocks, so we think he's going to have one for dinner, but then he carries it across his tank and tosses it onto the sand :lol:

    They're like sharks in public aquariums. Keep them well fed and they won't have the appetite for live critter munchies...but there's always the slight risk of something getting eaten. However, for this thread, we have never ever been concerned about our pistol killing anything. And I would love to have an excuse to have a mantis in a reef tank.

    Those wildlife docu's aren't proof as sometimes they contain fake or staged scenes.
