I have two green/blue pistols and they are very cool...they don't bother a thing not even my coral...i would figure if they did get hungry they would eat fish...just make sure to drop a couple food pellets in his home under the rocks...they are very shy except my bigger one likes to come out and tell the coral banded shrimp to get away from his home!

should be fine....will not eat fish if it well fed. I have a peacock mantis with fish...he has not harmed one (well one that decided to sleep with him 2 nights in a row...he was defending his home) He waited until the second night to kill him::)

I know many have pistol in a reef tank. There are a lot of misunderstanding of these 2 types of shrimp...that they are automatically bad but they are not.

Can I guarantee he will not eat a fish....no. But I can not guarentee that your other fish maynot turn on each other and kill one, one day either. I had a yellow tang kill a fairly large wrasse.....so you never know but should be fine.

I am looking for one to add to my reef. They are fun to watch!

My pistol shrimp is pretty chill in my aquarium. I have diy live rock as my base rock they are tripods so everything else is up off of the ground. He loves his caves. The only thing i have found is that you cant have any low corals near their burrow entrances they will get alot of sand on them and close up. It will just pick up and move my hermits when they get into his area.

Mine came as hitchhikers and bred in my tank (i ended up over 7 out). If you have a small pistol and large fish you are probably okay, but like i said before, mine was in a 30, and because of that i had very small fish, some even being smaller than the pistols. I actually witnessed one of them killing one of my fish at night, and pretty much all other invertebrates were killed as well.

I was just killing time tonight and like a true fish geek I went up to the LFS and was looking and all the sudden this pistol shrimp came out and crawled back in its den. Mind you I have been wanting one for a while...just waiting till later fall for shipping. I grabbed the workers and they are like.."we have not had one for probably 6-7 months....noway did you see pistal shrimp" I am like, let me go get him....and by gosh....it was a pistol shrimp. Must have been a hitchhiker in the rock that was in there and they had a yoshi shrimp gobi and they must have made a pair......

So now I own a pistol shrimp for my pink spotted shrimp goby....or my yellow watchman who ever it pairs upto first!

    Very excited!
