Placement/Nutrition of Macroalgae

I'm surprised at how little information is available on macroalgae. I purchased four types to "liven up my DT".

I find that the "String of Pearls" cannot go into my DT because the pods will destroy them. Leaving them in my isolation/quarantine tank.

I find lots of descriptive and where they come from information for the Padina sp. (Scroll Macroalgae), but I can't find any information on what it eats or where to place it in my DT. Anyone have or know where to find that information

Fauchea sp. (Pink Petals Macroalgae), Again lacking information on placement and what it eats. Information

Red Gracilaris sp. - I did find information that it Photosynthesizes it's food (what a shock that was). I'm considering placing it on the sand in my DT.

AND FINALLY the big concern. Which one of these will my snails and scarlet crabs decimate
