    Hey guys,

I decided to pick up one of those cheap wavemakers that just control the pulsing of your powerheads at whatever frequency/pattern you choose. Reef Aquarium Water Movement & Aquarium Wavemakers: Ocean Pulse Wavemakers That's the feller right there.

Now my tank is 55 gallons, and I have an azoo 2500 powerhead http://www.drsfostersmith.com/images/Categoryimages/larger/lg_960182_12847Z.jpg which is rated @ 600gph and two Koralia pump 1's in there as well Water Pumps & Wavemakers: Hydor Koralia Water Circulation Pumps .

The Azoo is pretty strong for the tank size and I lowered the flow by using hot glue to block the input.

My plan is to take the hot glue blockage out, so it's running @ full speed again on one side of the tank and perhaps put the two smaller on the opposite end. I also plan to cut the output nozzle of the azoo (strongest PH) as short as possible to get a less directional out-flow from it.

Does this plan make any sense at all, or is it more complicated than this?

If it should work, what would be the best height to put the azoo PH @, higher, medium, lower?

I dont think it to much flow I had 4 x MJ1200's in my 55 for the stronger flow pump point it toward the glass this will spread the flow more

From everything I have read and heard from a few people that tried it, koralias usually dont do well in a wavemaker setup. It burns the motors up, and they are noisy when started up. That said my LFS has a couple K4's hooked to a wave maker and they have been fine for over a year. Its a risk, however, that I am not willing to take.

Don't they have Koralias made for a wavemaker?

yes, the DC ones are, I assumed your two K1's were standard AC models.

Had no clue there were dc models, also I didn't get the idea for the wavemaker until after , aside from that The azoo is the most powerful, and intended to be the main source of power.

Someone showed me a link on youtube demonstrating one.

Seems like my main tuning will have to be finding the right frequency.
