I'm setting up a office tank for an office supply company and the owner thought it would be really cool if we could incorporate some props for the tank. They thought office bobble heads, a mug, and possibly even a ream of paper would be really cool for the tank.

I was wondering if laminated paper is safe for the fish?
what kind of clear coat would be safe for fish?
would the mug be OK in the tank or would it need to be clear coated?

Any ideas for other weird office items to included in the tank would be great.
    Thanks for the help

I'd think that anything plastic or ceramic (coffee cup) should be ok. I would think that laminated paper would be ok, except that it would need to be weighted down - and I'd think you would want to soak it for a while first just to make sure it don't leak through.

Plastic paperclips instead of gravel? ::) Pens with the ink and springs removed? Keeping that clean could be an issue, though.

Get one of their catalogs and peruse that for some other plastic type ideas.

The bobble head idea could be cool - put a bubbler in them so that the heads bob slowly ;D.

If the bobble head has a metal spring in it, it's a no-go.

Also, you'd want to check any plastic item(s) for chemical leaching as well as be sure any mold release agents are completely gone.

    JMHO...

This is a key issue. You could use the bobblehead, but only after dismantling it, removing any metal, then reassembling it.
