Hi, anyone got experience on this coral? I bought a purple colored and I read on the net that it is active at night and can even move around a few centimeters? Some advise will be appreciated.

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
Yes they can move and may show more inflation at night.

Try to make sure that no sand is getting on the surface of the coral and the flow is not too much.

Can be an easier coral in established systems and a bit more senstive in newer ones.

You will know something is wrong if you start to see tissue recession or the white skeleton. Some really like to be feed sm. pieces of mysis, shrimp and other stuff found in most frozen fish foods.

    I love my fungia.
I second Corailline's suggestion about feeding - they open their mouth's pretty quickly in reaction to food - you just have to place some there. I actually feed my fish right above mine so that food falls on it. Whatever lands on the sides will quickly be moved to it's mouth. Mine seems to eat anything - mysis, formula, coral frenzy, you name it.

They are sensitive to light - mine got nearly toasted from a un-shielded UV blast - and seem to prefer slightly shaded areas to full-on direct light. Medium to low flow appears good for them too in my case.

Mine does not move all that much.

Hope that helps! Enjoy. They are cool.

Try to make sure you have a sandy substrate where you have the coral this will help keep the flesh safe. They will move until they find a place of flow and lighting they like.
