I have had my green plate coral for a couple of months now. It has been doing fine, open all day, eating small pieces of shrimp etc. I went out of town for a couple of days and when I got home everything was fine except my plate coral it was almost fully receded into the plate. Any Ideas? Nothing changed added to tank in quite some time. Thanks.

In the presence of Doxies they'll do that :) BTW looks like a scene straight out of my house....blk/brwn would be Brandi and the brown would he Heidi of Hoot. We rescue Doxies :)

Seriously though, they can retract often and not have an issue. Mine does it daily. If it starts bleaching out or receding then you have an issue :)

    They are funny dogs ;D

It appears as though it is receding.... But it was so quick (within a couple of days to a week) wierd. What should I do if that is the case?

Not much you really can do other then make sure no other corals are near it that may re-injure it and keep your water parameters in check. Do you know what your parameters are?

Chinita, you said dont throw away skeleton b/c you have 10 plates growing on it now.... What exactly do you mean? Did it spawn or something?

BTW no ammonia. I havent tested anything else but nothing has died or anything so there would be no reason for any drastic changes.

If you see tentacles at night start feeding alot. Plate corals need to be fed often

I am not sure long or short. When it looked the best the tentacles were about an 1 - 1.5 inches long.
