play sand

    Hey,

    just woundering if anyone knows where you can get aroganite sand that is dry. I want to put a dsb in my new 150 and that's just too much money to buy it live already. thanks!

    They sell dry argonite sand in pet stores, I got some from petsmart.

    Dry sand is the way to go.

    Get a cup or two of "live sand" from a friend or trusted LFS and dump on your "dry sand" in short order it will become a live, DSB!!!

    Much cheaper and better to go this route!!!

    At Home Depot. Your thinking like sand box sand? You could get 50 lbs for about 5 bucks. :)

    but you run great risks when getting that stuff.

    IMPO - not worth saving 60 bux on sand that will cost your entire tank down the road.

    I know its good for freshwater. Vie used it in my 28 g, its cheap and appealing. I've never used it in saltwater though.

    Most brands of play sand are full of silicates and will cause magor algae problems,but there is some play sands that are made from aggronite and would work.
