    Then shouldn't it not matter for saltwater? Considering many people have bare bottom tanks, and if it were meant for freshwater it shouldn't lower the ph right?

    I just would like to know if the quickcrete play sand mentioned before is okay to use? I am setting up a 125 and I do not like the prices of sand out there. Its just sand! However, I do want the ph to be stable.

    so if i use vinegar to pour on the sand do i want it to bubble or not

    it wont leech into ur water, search the net thats a myth. it can compact if not cleaned regularly, also play sand can and will scratch ur glass/acrylic easier than aragonite. it wont mess ur ph up that much aragonite just keeps it more stable. i use the high desert play sand from the depot and it works great for 4 bucks a 50lb bag.

    I'm currently thinking about adding play sand for my new tank set up and then seeding it with live sand from my current tank.. I went to home depot and found the quickrete play sand but I'm hesitant to use it because it looks filled with little rocks etc. Is this acceptable?
