In the future you should quarantine fish that show any irregularities. I don't know if it's too late but you could try a product called Kick-Ich it worked for me. It's 100% reef safe with no copper additives. Good luck.:(

I know I should quarantine, but in 8 months I've never had an issue. So I guess I got comfortable. I didn't realize the stuff was on her tail until she was already in the tank. I tried to catch her to QT, but I couldn't catch her.

After doing more online research, I'm pretty certain it is lymphocystis.

Excessive water changes will do nothing for disease, this is ill-advised. Thousands of people who quarantine end up with disease outbreaks, I am not a proponent of quarantine. I am the one on here always touting the Marine-Max, that is the way to go.

Thanks Jack. I know your fish are in there, so I'm really sorry about that. But Ahi (the male flame) is still doing fine and eating as much as ever!

I never quarantined either because I'm not really certain that it helps, like you said. And in 8 months I've never had a disease. But I dunno - this is making me rethink! But I'll do more research on it.

I'm going to buy some Marine-Max today.

I heard back from the store that sold me the anthias, and they credited my card for the price of all three anthias. They didn't try to get out of it at all. So I am happy with that.

Now let's just hope these lil' buggers get better! It's going to be a long road. From reading about lympho it lasts usually a month or more.

You could always try to give each fish a fresh water bath. Just make sure the temp/ph are the same as in your tank and only leave them in there for about 30-45 seconds
