I have a 50g dt adding a 29g sump/fuge! My question is will a eshopps pf-800 and mag 9.5 return pump with T going to fuge with check valve and t going back to return with check valve be ok?(for slowing return) I'm new to this but it looks a little large for my setup but plan on upgrading to bigger dt in the future! Will this work? Oh and i have and estimated 4.5' of head loss with bends.

    Thanks in advance!!!

IMO you can never have too much flow. Go for it!!!

I have basically the same set up and found that a mag 12 was a better suited pump for my application. I tried a mag 7 and it was not even close enough to the flow needed so a mag 9.5 will be close but you may find more benefits from a mag 12. jmo

Thanks! what gph overflow? you said basically the same so 600 gph right? I would just like the 9.5 to be enough to be a little faster than my overflow that way i can adjust valves to get pump and overflow work at or as close to the same rate.

has anybody else ran these to together to let me know there experience.

If you get a pump that's too big you can always turn it down with a ball valve. If you get one that's too small there is nothing you can do to increase flow other than to get a bigger pump. It would be better to get a big pump so you can dial in your flow to whatever GPH you want.

Im running a 9.5 to my 55g DT at about 900-1000 gph. I have the system hooked up with a manifold that runs both my fuge and my po4 reactor. With my plumbing i have a 45 degree bend that runs out to braided vinyl hose. I have to creep from the junctions and less head loss from elbows.

I run a Mag 12 on my sump and the temp stays steady at 78/79 with about 500w of MH over top of the tank. I do not use a chiller, but the tank is in the basement and the AC keeps ambient room temp about 70 so my heaters do a bit to maintain the temp.
