I can't seem to get it right. I have had my 90 gal tank for about 2 years and have never quite got my tank running without issues. My current situation is this...I have a fish only tank with about 70 lbs of live rock and about 3 inches of live sand. I have 2 clown fish, two tangs, and 4 engineer gobies. Currently my yellow eyed cole tang is showing slight signs of ich and is stationary near one of my rocks in the back of the tank. Not fully eating with the rest of the fish. My maroon clown is showing signs of ich too, but swimming and eating just fine. They are both breathing normally but my cole tang is concerning me with his symptoms. Please give me some advise cause frankly I need it. Here are my water conditions.

    PH 8.2
    Ammonia 0
    Nitrite 0
    Nitrate 15 PPM
    Salinity 1.022-1.023
Calcium 600 PPM (I know this is super high)

Your nitrate is really high. Do a water change. And depending on what tang you have. Blue tangs are hard to take care of they have a poor immune system

Welcome to 3Reef. I wish it was under better circumstances.

What kinds of foods are you feeding? How often do you soak their foods in HUFAs/Vitamins. Have you recently added a new fish? How stable are the temperatures in the tank?

    Welcome to 3Reef !

In addition to inwall75’s questions I am wondering if you have this tank grounded, using a skimmer and ro/di water. Also, please let us know your maintenance schedule and what you do. How often do you do water changes, how much do you change and do you test that water?

What other recent issues have you had? You said you can’t get it right so I assume this has been a battle for some time. Tell us about the history – take your time and draft out everything. We can help you – very certain of this.

Good question ! I assume dosing. Another question to tack on would be what is your Magnesium ? I assume its low since calcium is so high.

yes yes are you using a refractometer or swing arm hydrometer to mesure your salinity>? Had this same problem when I was using a hydrometer to mesure my salanity. It was way way off and it was upwards of 1.029 was stressing my fish. Threw my mag-cal out of wack this is why I ask!
