Hello, this is my first time posting here :) Mainly been a forum reader for info.

I just purchased a mushroom frag on a nice piece of liverock. Question being, as you can see by the photos there are multiple anemone looking creatures that came with it. I am fearful they are not good and would like information please.

Thank you for all the information on these forums!

Sorry, fixed. Yahoo is bad about xfer sizes.

So ya, from what Im reading the ones on the left could maybe be...Aiptasia Anemones? The ones on the right are a different color. There also is a worm or two on it as shown in the overall pic. Both different colors again.

Its a SCARY piece, I'm fairly sure I will have to remove them all, scrub the rock. Can I xfer the mushroom off of it so I can scrub it?

    looks like aptasia to me.

you may be able to scrap it off but i would want to stress it in a new tank. you could split the rock with a hammer

edit: thats suppose to be a n't at the end of would

+1. Give it a good smack with a hammer and chisel between the bad stuff and the good stuff ;) Goos stuff in tank, bad stuff in boiling water ;)

What 'bout just trying some aptasia control? We recently purchased a 90gal Oceanic from a failing buisness (economy) FULL of aptasia a all it took was just a dap of aptasia control for each one, they contracted and never came back. Red sea makes a nice tip for thier aptasia control:) Be sure not to scrub the rock under water. they will spread. Nice coralina growth

Aiptasia and anemone majano. The aiptasia are easy to get rid of but the majanos are harder to kill.

I have had good results killing both with aptaisia x, or you could fill a syringe with very hot water just after boiling it, and squirt those suckers, just hold the rock over a bucket,
