    How long has it been like that? It's not splitting but it depends on how long it has been shriveled up on whether it's dieing or not. Anemones tend to get like that from time to time and it's not big deal. Usually they're just expelling waste.

    How long has your tank been setup?

    tank has been set up 7-8 months , he has been like that for one day. I did a water change yesterday , water parameters are fine but last night it got 75 degrees in the tank water I have warmed it up since but I just looked at it this morning and he was like this it's almost as if he's hanging on to the rock with dear life , seems like he'll either reattach or completely let go by todays end. I just can't tell which way he's headed.

    Ok and how long have you had the anemone? What do you have for lighting?

    Define "fine".

    +1. We need exact numbers for all of your params (ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, PH, SG, phosphate, ca, mg, dkh, temp). What is the flow situation? Lighting?

    While I don't promote people putting their hands into their tanks.........
    I would go ahead and take a finger to the tentacles and see if they are "sticky" or "slimy" ..

    Sticky = Good
    Slimy = BAD! (to the point u should pull it out of your tank asap and put it in QT .. If you do move it out, take a "smell" test as well.. if it is a foul smell, your bta has about 3 days before it bites the dust)

    I personally had my condy do what your's is doing now... After I tested the slimy/sticky then smelled it, I learned that I was being over-protective and the condy ended up being sent over to a buddy..

    Goooooood Luck!!!

    ill do the touch and smell test, but my main question is - do anemones just let go of rock when they are dyeing , or can there possibly be other reasons for the anemones to let go of the rock ( not completely let go yet though)

    Hi, anemones will go where ever they want in your tank. If it was in that spot for awhile it was happy. Maybe the water change agitated it and it might think it has to move but you will just have to wait and see. Problem with anemones is they will move and sometimes out of sight and that bothers us because we want to see them. Remember, they are an animal and like many animals can be quite unpredictable. If it moves you have to keep an eye on it so it doesn't get sucked into a power head or filter and if were to die it must be removed promptly as to not pollute the entire tank.
