can anyone please give me some ideas to save my maroon clownfish. Ive had the tank just over a week . a friend was getting rid off it. Its 260 lts, we used same water and all parameters are correct. Only have the maroon clownfish and 2 hermit crabs in the tank. For the first 5 days all was good then the clown is panting and lay on the rocks or sand.

If it's panting..it's most likely either Oxygen of Ammonia causing the problem. I doubt one fish in the tank would cause oxygen problems though..are you sure there is ZERO ammonia in the tank?

Edit: I take back what I said about the Oxygen..it's still a possibility. Is there any airflow over the tank or is there a lid/canopy? You could try pointing a powerhead towads the surface of the water. I still think the problem is probably being caused by ammonia though..

Have you rechecked the parameters? I just wonder if the move caused a mini cycle. Did the substrate get stirred up when you moved the tank? Any filtration? water movement?

I don't know about clowns..but i know that you can tell when the bluegills are spawning because their tails are torn up from fanning the substrate lol not sure if that's relevant though...have never seen my clown do that
