2-3" of sand is good(imo), just make sure its the "salt size" sand and not the crushed coral. I had the same lighting set up in a 45g once and it was enough for most/some corals. Just make sure to ask/tell the LFS that you have dual 65w pc's(1-daylight/ 1-actinic). Luna

Hey one more question I forgot for the daylight bulbs should I get 10k or 10k 6700k ?? also I had no clue that my old tank was overstocked my levels were allways great or do you mean just for visual appeal? ok here are my bulb options which ones should I get

    SunPaq Actinic 460nm
    SunPaq Actinic 420nm
    SunPaq Daylight 10000°K
    SunPaq Daylight 6700°K
    SunPaq Dual Daylight 6700°K/10000°K
    SmartPaq Daylight 10000°K/Actinic 460nm
    SunPaq Dual Actinic 420/460nm

    I am so confused

When I had my 45g tank, I had 1-65w 10k and the other one was 65w dual actinics 420/460nm. Luna

The different spectrum is to reach different depths of the tank to "feed" different corals. Read up on it. Luna

Yes, the skimmer you have is a Coralife SuperSkimmer rated for 65 gallons, so it will work great on your 30 gal tank.
If you paid $100-$120 or less, than you got a good deal on the skimmer.

Have you run water through the new system to make sure your o-flow and filtration are working properly?

Yeah I sure did I did a fresh water test worked great and quiet too. My pump appeared to be moving about 300gph to 400gph I think that will be good enough . Thanks for asking though
