Hey, every1. Just about 45mins ago, I introduced my newly purchased Pearlscale Butterfly to my 110gal aquarium. My Flamefin/Tomini Tang won't stop chasing/nipping/harassing it. As far as I had checked, there wasn't supposed to be any compatibility issues with this fish and the ones I already have D=

For those who haven't read my intro thread, here's a review of my livestock once again.

    -1 blue damsel
    -1 blue-green chromis
    -1 flamefin/tomini tang
    -1 juv. red coris wrasse
    -1 foxface rabbitfish
    -1 diamond goby
    -1 juv. gray angel
    -5 hermit crabs
-7 small-med pieces of live rock
    -live sand.

I don't know whether to remove one of the disgruntled fishes and keep one of them in the sump for now, to leave them alone, or... I don't even know what other options I have. I do not have a separate quarantine tank, I don't know if this is temporary behavior, or something serious.

Your immediate suggestions will truly help me out, and will be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you for your time.

The problem you may be having is territorial, so try rearranging the rock work slighlty especailly the area where the tangs normally hangs out. You could also try killing the lights as that should help calm the fish down.

We cut the aquarium lights, and surprisingly, I could still see my tang bullying my pearlscale. Dad just cut the living room lights as well, and the only light in here is the television-- they're watching terminator, sarah chronicles.

At the moment, the fighting has stopped, but I still don't feel that enough has been done-- this can possibly continue tomorrow, and no one will be home to supervise until early evening, late afternoon.

Dad is not convinced to move rocks right now =/

The tomini will leave it alone eventually. If I remember correctly you have been trying to get "fish loss" figured out and under control? Have you figured out why/what is going on?

Yeah, I think the main reason why I've been losing fishes before, is because I didn't have a UV sterilizer and p/skimmer installed. We've had the uv for two months and the p/skmr for 3 weeks now.

I got a water test today, and since it's rock only, they only tested nitrate, phosphate, ph, alcalinity and salinity.

    salinity: 1.020
    ph: 8.3
    alcalinity: 9
    nitrate: 20
phosphate: 1.0 over the scale (ridiculously high, lol, but she says for a fowlr tank, that would be expected, and not important)

The issue right now, is not their health, but their compatibility. I fear that if my tang doesn't quit, she will stress my new fish to bad health =/

I've wanted this fish for a long time, so my panic levels are through the roof

salinity is a bit low might want to bump it up to 1.023 the higher salinity will also keep some fish diseases from cropping up

Yeah, we bought reef salt (even though our tank isn't reef-- that's all they had. They said it dissolves fast, and still does the trick. He sold it to me for regular, non-reef price =D)

Dad was planning on bringing it up a little. But thank you for your concern anyway!

I would definitely rearrange the rock work as you have to break up established territories.

I tried again to convince dad to move the rocks. He won't do it tonight, and he won't do it tomorrow morning. He says if there's still a problem tomorrow, then he will do it after work when he gets home, which is usually around 6:30pm

I hope my fish can survive until then =/
