I recently bought a 30 - 50 pound piece of fake rock and 30 pounds of live rock i put it in my tank and hated how it look and i think the rock is simply to big to let some of the big fish i want to put in my tank swim because it blocks off half of the tank. i was wondering if i could take this rock and 20-27 pounds of the live rock out and put a couple pieces of fake coral and 3-10 pounds of live rock with a top notch filter.

PLEASE TELL ME IF THESE FIH CAN LIVE WITH 3-10 POUNDS OF LIVE AND SOME PIECES OF FAKE CORAL

    *BICOLOR ANGEL
    *AURIGA BUTTERFLYFISH
    *YELLOW TANG
    *REGAL TANG
    *PURPLE DOTTY BACK
    *FLAME ANGELFISH
    *CLOWNFISH
    *SERGEANT MAJOR DAMSEL
    *ROYAL BASSLET
    *GROUPERS
    *TRIGGERS
    *GOBYS
    *BLENNYS
    *CHROMIS

How big of a tank? I would say no, unless you cut down on feeding big time.

Haven't you asked essentially the same question about your stocking list a few times already? Were you thinking about all of these fish together at once? Are these separate?

I wouldn't use only 10 pounds of rock in your tank, anyway. Not enough rock for bacterial growth, especially anaerobic bacteria. I would pick up at least 40 lbs of base rock, and use that.

I would avoid groupers most get a few feet long, I would avoid triggers they are aggressive.
basslet and dotty back are very similar will probably fight.

you understand if you do it this way you will have to do a huge water changes weekly to keep nitrates down and probably will never be able to have a nice sps reef.

If i was you and wanted a reef I would do this

choose one tang(not recommended unless its a baby and not be in the tank in a few years) or angelfish.
    *BICOLOR ANGEL
    *YELLOW TANG
    *REGAL TANG
    *FLAME ANGELFISH

    choose one
    *ROYAL BASSLET
    *PURPLE DOTTY BACK

choose 4 of these, if you get 2 of one species then it counts as 2 of the 4
    *CLOWNFISH
    *SERGEANT MAJOR DAMSEL
    *GOBYS
    *BLENNYS
    *CHROMIS

    DO NOT GET
    *AURIGA BUTTERFLYFISH(not reef safe)
*GROUPERS(too big more then likely unless you find a species thats maxes at less then 4 inches)
*TRIGGERS(agressive may not be reef safe also)

remember people come for the fish and stay for the corals, so don't cripple yourself down the line with unrealistic stocking.

The amount of live rock you are discussing 80 lbs total is not a lot of rock... thus the tank you are talking about must not be very big... I am guessing a 55 gallon if you are saying it is blocking the tank.... If that is so, that tank is no where near big enough for all those angels, tangs, groupers and triggers. Even assuming a fish only tank and no corals. I just don't see that grouping working at all.

I think sostoudt's recommendation is fair, but I personally don't agree with buying a fish that you know will outgrow your tank. Thus, I'd take some of those tangs off his list.

In short, I think you are heading toward majorly overloading the tank and killing some fish. Be careful.

It is when one single piece is a 50 lb fake monster. That can mean a much bigger space for the size rock than a typical density rock - which is already a lot of area. I didn't have a rock over 20# in my tank, and they're pretty decently sized pieces. Mostly, they were bigger than my head.

I believe it's 55 gallons, from previous threads.

A lot of good advise, but the OP is a little vague, and needs to do more research. Such as "top notch filter". A big part of that is the live rock. A 55 is not a very big tank for aggressive fish.

a 55??? That's not big enough for 1 tang, never mind the mixture he wants..
