We bought a leather mushroom coral three days ago. It looked great in the store. We had our water tested just to make sure everything was going good in our tank as well, and we were told everything looked great. We came home and acclimated the mushroom and put it in the tank. It opened up a little bit and then closed up completely. It is also in a tank that does have damsels in it. It is now tilted over and i have no idea what is wrong with it. Any suggestions would help please! Its been in the tank 5 days and the tanks been running for 4 months. It is one of the first things of coral we put in the tank but the other 2 that we got and put in that same day are doing excellent. also im running LED lights I think there 2 watts per led and I run the whites for 12 hours and the blues for 12 hours seperate of each other so when one set is on the other is off. i moved it away from the flow because we had a power head pointed pretty much right at it. also ive been reading other post at which they say to DIP the coral what does this mean and what does it consist of. sorry with all the questions but please help me. everything else looks like its doing fine.

Is this the first coral in this tank?
How long has the tank been running?
What kind of lights do you have?
    Also a picture would help.

just to clarifiy, is it a mushroom or a leather coral. Either way, pictures will help. Leather corals will close up, get slimy and just look nasty when they are growing or are stressed. They can even look dead. Then all the sudden they will shed their top layer and open back up just like before.

Mushrooms tend to shrivel and shrink up at first and then normally will settle in. Sometimes they can even expell their guts (little white stringy things from their mouth)

If your water is good i would not worry too much. Just give it time. I doubt that the damsel is irritating it as a general rule damsels are safe with corals, however any fish can nip, so just keep an eye on it
