what was it that lead you to believe that cyanide was used in the capture of this fish?

Even though it is illegal a lot of firefish are caught using cyanide still. It's very common with this fish. None of my other fish have been affected by what he has. If it were a parasite of some kind after 3-4 weeks they would have been showing signs...which they are not. I also contacted Wet Web Media. I did not tell them I had thought it was cyanide because I did not want to sway their opinion. They came up with the same answer. I am not 100% on this, but for now that is the only answer I have.

If you have another opinion I would love to hear it. I can't stand seeing him like this. Even though he is getting better on his own (hes a little survivor and won't give up in the slightest). It would be nice for me to think he has a higher chance of surviving.

no, i was just asking. i didn't know if there was some kind of physical sign one could look for that would tell you cyanide was used. it does seem odd that he eats well but still wastes away. sorry, i wish i had some answers.

no unfortunately from what I've learned, I would have to buy a test. I'm not sure how the test would work, and I am not willing to stress the fish out by trying to catch it in order to swipe it or poke it or whatever it is I have to do. If he happens to die (which i hope he pulls through) I will test him so I can tell my lfs and suggest that they can switch suppliers.

no not gaining weight back. getting color back. his face is a brighter yellow, got his purple "freckles" back, and is swimming better. I've seen him dart a few times swimming back and forth. even up high in the tank. before he was staying in one area of the tank pretty low near the sandbed
