I'm sorry I don't have time to intro myself - I'm leaving and need to know if I can do anything to help my poor fish -

We've had a couple of goldfish for a while. Then a friend gave us a japanese something - a sucker fish, that did fantastic on the algae. However, lately he's been very agressive. Our oldest fish was failing and died a few weeks ago. The sucker fish may have finished him off however - I didn't see it until the morning. He seemed fine with the other fish until recently he's begun chasing it - and I just noticed that he had been eating her scales! The sucker fish is now out of the tank in a covered bowl (what do I do with it??) and is NOT going back in there. The goldfish seems a bit dazed - will she be ok? What can I put in the tank to help her? What can I do? Besides never put another sucker fish in there.... Will she live?

If it ate all the algae, you should buy those little Hikari algae pellets to feed it. Otherwise... although I have never seen a pleco try to eat a goldfish.

I was told it's not a pleco... but I'm not so concerned about him right now - What should I do for the poor goldfish - I believe her scales are gone from her sides!!!! Can she live??? Should I be putting something in the tank? Salt? I'm sure she's not happy, but I hope she's not suffering terribly.... it's hard to think that she's not suffering....

is it thin and small because if that is the fish you are talking about i used to have one of thosee in my FW tank and they are agressive and a bit territorial. Plecos are not aggressive fish at all. See over the next week if the scales grow back if so your fish should be just fine just make sure there are no other agressive fish in the tank.
    GOOD LUCK!

    and Welcome to 3reef!

API Stress zyme could possibly help. Keep an eye out for any possible signs of bacterial infection on the goldfish, and if signs exist treat with Mela-fix or other antibiotic fish medication. Good Luck.

try some stress coat, but don't over dose, and brace your self for the inevitable, maybe it will pull through sorry to hear that

I would definatly do the stress coat and then probably add some mela-fix for good measure. It may help to prevent infection and will help the fins/scales grow back.
