Thanks in advance for the help.
Okay... I have these green things growing on one live rock. I was afraid they were bubble algae but when viewed from the side they appear to be flat. I have searched the ID threads and haven't foind anything that really looks like them. they popped up during the first week of the cycle. there are a bunch of them on that one rock but no where else.
you should be able to click on the images and zoom in a little further

I also have this on another rock and have no idea what it is.

and last of all I was looking in the rocks and saw this little guy wandering around. I think its a tiny starfish. Will he hurt anything? Don't know if I will ever see him again to catch him if he was bad. He is only about the size of a pencil eraser.

    Thanks for the help guys!!

looks like the first ones are bubble algae and possibly hair algae, the second could possibly be some type of coral polyp but i really dont have a clue, and the third is an Asterina starfish, most people get them out b/c they have been known to prey on Coral, ive personally had first hand experiance with these guys and noticed them preying on a few choice leather frags and sps's i had, im now trying to get every last one out.

The first three pictures are all of the same rock. What should I do to get rid of the algae if thats is indeed what it is? It has only been set up for about a week and a half so I don't know about adding snails or crabs to eat the stuff. Is it too soon for that?

I haven't checked themin a few days. They were 0 ammonia, some nitrites(low I guess) and no nitrates. Going off memory.

I'll check them tonight and let yall know. It's only been filled up a week and a half so I'm sure it's all out of whack. I'd hate to let the algae take over while I'm waiting for it to cycle!
Should I just keep waiting and hope for the best? What are my best options?

PH= 7.6 ( kinda low?) the lights were off all day and I read that this would make it lower than normal
    nitrate, nitrite and ammonia= 0.0
    specific gravity is 1.026
    Does this help any?
I don't think its bubble algae but I'm not sure. I went to the LPS and the ones they had were all in clusters. mine are all seperate and not so round.
    Any Ideas?

you can add hermits if your worried about algae. hermits have a high tolerance for bad water.

now if i could only get them to stop killing snails. lol
