like a moron I disconnected my hoses to remove the membrane for replacing and cant remember where they each connect... specifically the 2 on the bottom of the membrane chamber.. It is a Aquarium Life Support system and has only 2 canisters and a membrane..

I also ordered a DI filter when I ordered so I was wondering if I just place it inline between the good water from the ro and the reservoir that stores my water for tank?

I'm not familiar with that model, but here's the easiest way to figure it out.

You're membrane has a tube in the middle of it and the tube extends past the main membrane a little on each end. That tube should get pushed into a little receiver on the far end of your membrane housing. The tube that comes out of that little receiver is your permeate (clean water). It's likely in the center of the housing.

    Hope that helps.

If these arent good enough let me know and I can get more..

I have it hooked up the way I think it goes, just dont know for sure..

UPDATE Not shown in the pics but when it comes out of the end of the membrane the yellow and blue go into a block and out of the block on the yellow side is the black (my bad water) and the blue side is a clear hose (my good)...

Hey AZDesertRat I was wanting to ask you... When I ordered my replacement cartridge and membrane I went ahead and got the DI.. They sold me the 2 stage DI.. I am sure it is good but is it overkill?? I know very little about the ro stuff so I figured I would ask..

"wonders"- if your the guy I ordered from at spectrapure.. If so then I guess I am in good hands.. I hate walking blindly and feel very vulnerable so I try to keep checks and balances in place..

I use the MaxCap/SilicaBuster dual DI andwouldn't use anything else. I get over a year per MaxCap cartridge and about 3 years on a single SilicaBuster. My present MaxCap UHE unit is over 3 years old and I have ony replaced the SilicaBuster one time since new and thats in Phoenix with a tap water TDS over 600!

I have nothing to do with Spectrapure or any other company. I was a municipal water system operator and supervisor for 22 years and a well driller and pump installer for 10years before that. After retiring from that field I worked for a major environmental engineering firm training operators and starting up and troubleshooting both new and optimized or upgraded systems. Just an informed end user.

88 is very good! The national average TDS is around 250 and going up all the time with things like groundwater recharge and insitu treatment.

So to recap and make sure I understand the basics of when to change and condition of water:

    1. I measure my tap water TDS

    2. Measure the TDS after the RO (do I need to place a T with valve inline prior to the DI for easy access?)

    3. From your post in another thread - "250-5=245, 245/250=.98, .98x100= 98% rejection which is good. based on TDS 250 prior ro and 5 after)

3.a - Change the membrane on the RO when its rejection rate is less than 95%?

    4. Change the ro sediment and carbon filters every 6 months (I think I read a post from you somewhere that told someone how to determine when to change each one individually but cant locate it now)

    5. Per DI Manual: When the output of the MAXCAP DI ™ (the “IN” probe) approaches 75% of the RO water TDS, it is time to change the MAXCAP DI
(so using the numbers from above: 5(TDS after RO) x 75% = 3.75, so when the IN on the DI monitor reads anything greater than 3.75 its time to change the MAXCAP DI

    6. When the OUT probe of the DI reads anything other than 0 change the Silica-Buster..

IS this correct? If so i am going to copy this and place it in a sealed bag next to the water system for future purposes and so I dont get confused later when trying to remember.. I will also place a log for the filter changes so I can track when they are changed..

Thank you so much for all your help for me and this forum...
