    I've bouhgt a green bubble anemone about 2 weeks ago, acclimated for a couple of hours and it's been doing fine for about a week: i've seen it eat twice (frozen shrip) and moving around, up the rock. Over the past 3 days it's been mostly closed and yesterday developed some type of "dust"or "spider web" looking nasty stuff on it. It's staying closed today but have moved up a little since yesterday.
    I have 2 clown fish, 1 blenny and 1 coral beauty, along with some corals, zoas, mushrooms, inverts, 1 pepermint shrimp and 1 emerald crab in my 40g tank. Feed them about once a day variety of food (frozen shrimp, pellets). Water change about once a week. As can be seen from the pic, the frogspawn looks ok (though it's usually a little fuller) and everyone else seems to be doing fine. I'm going to do water change next and will post my parameters soon. This is my first (and very likely last :() anemone in this tank, so any ideas would help.

    thank you.

    :help:All the parameters seem ok to me:
    Nitrates/Nitrites = 0
    Ammonia = 0
    pH = 8
    Phosphates = 0.01
    Calcium = 430
    Magnesium = 1,280
    KH 6.7, Alk 2.39
    Salinity/SG at 34 / 1.025
    Is it sick, dead? Should I take it out?:confused:

    Anya IMO your ALK is a little low. I know there are some people on here who know a lot more than I about ALK so I hope they jump in. I try to keep mine around 9 DKH. Low ALK to an anem might be comparable to a bad case of dry skin for us. Could be irritating it.

    So do you think I could save it? I'll go to the LFS tomorrow for ways to increase ALK, though I have 2.5 to 4 as good alkanity, maybe those par. only appy to corals?
    I use Salifert to test everything.

    Anyone? Should I try taking it to LFS, maybe they can still save it or should I take it out ASAP?

    How does the anem look today? Dont give up on it yet. Watch it closely. FYI when you raise your ALK make sure you do so very slowly over days not hours.
