all fish will as they break down when they die, i know what you mean tho cause they have toxins....can't help you with that i'm sure somone can tell you. I would imagine it would only be an issue if they die and its there for awhile without being noticed. If they are sick should be fine.. i could be wrong, just my logic

we should come back to this. i'm a bit confused by this.

you say ammonia and nitrite are "very low" but that the test "reads 0"

Are you, by chance, using test strips? If so, throw them away and have your LFS test your water. If they use test strips too, find a new LFS to test it. Then buy some liquid test kits for yourself.

With ammonia and nitrites, they have to actually be 0. Near is still lethal in many cases.

Not sure if this is new info for you or not, just trying to make sure your bases are covered.

Also, this isn't your tank? ...

Also we need the answer to Amcraig's question, how did you treat the fish? Did you use a medication?

could it be velvet? ive heard it can spread and kill a fish pretty fast ( within 2-3days right?). maybe it got the lion fish first and then the rest died with toxins?

Sorry computer has been down for a loooong time. Ya i used metiflex in my DT which has worked in the past for me. I rebuilt to have my 3 year old dump 4 months of food in the tank a week ago. Moved everything into qt but it was not noticed for a good 30 min. Lost a clown trigger (sooo sad) my banded coral shrip my stawberry apple snail and my crowned sea urchin :( My corals were not doing well either but the have all come back exluding a few of my Kenya tree frags(which is weird cause i thought they were the toughest). Everthing is in the QT tank still, and sorry i use liquid test and everything is 0 im just fickel and the color is not exact to whats on the referance chart (but so damn close) I know its just me being to picky.
