Is the following good or bad? It was on a piece of live rock recently purchased.

    Tubastrea or Sun Coral

These little guys are related to a dendro, but smaller. They are meat eaters and require spot feeding to survive in our "clean" tanks.

Thanks for the help. The condition seems to be improving. I will get some food for it and begin feeding it today.

Hello and welcome to the forum !

That’s a Galaxia coral, and good. But yes, he is in dire straights.

Nothing to worry about, I doubt he’s going to survive but I wish you luck with it. I would be more concerned of the hair algae on that rock. Is there more macro algae’s on the rock(s) you purchased or is it just that little bit?

I agree with Corailline's ID. I had one in my tank until it got knock over into the sand and died. Spot feeding is a good idea if you want to keep it.

+1 on the bleached sun coral or dendrophilia. It's never too late! I can see tentacles, so it may feed and regain its color, IMO.

I was just reading a post about this guy's sun coral, who's daughter had named "BOB" and after bleaching and looking bad for months, I believe he said it had "babies" !! So... I would feed each individual head every other day and make sure your water parameters do not swing too much.

    Good luck with it!
