Please identify this skimmer and help me decide.

    That appears to be a ball valve, and not a gate valve.

    I don't know how the ball valve will work for you because a ball valve is not very precise between its open and shut settings. Gate valves with a guillotine style instead of a ball type valve are much better for precision control.

    Yeah I noticed that it was a gate valve. Oh well I guess Ill just have to see now...

    You must mean ball valve.

    What I mean is I noticed that it was a gate valve on the website and pictures where I got the idea from. I noticed it after I purchased and installed a ball valve on my skimmer.

    Ahhhh.


    That's not to say it won't work though, especially if it is all the way open. It might be a bit fussy about the height the water level is on the skimmer body as it is.
