PLEASE just give me a simple answer. I don't want WPG or anything like that. ( been there, done that )

I have been assurred by my LPS that I have the PROPER light for my nano salt water tank.

My SIMPLE question is, how many hours of light does a salt water aquarium require ?

If possible, a private message would be appreciated.

    Thanks.

I run 12 hours actinic and 10 hours daylight with power compacts. If you have something awesome like halides, daylight hours will likely be shorter.

Yeah man...it's really all relative. I run my actinics 12 hours and my daylights 8 hours. Something around that would be good.

I'm sorry to say but asking for a simple answer to a complex question is always going to be iffy. If you go with a simple answer you may run into problems.

    Sorry

the day time lenght in the tropics vary little during a 12 month period

its always about 12 hours of either light or dark with maybe an hour either side called dawn and dusk

so I run Actinics 12 hours and daylight for 10 in order to replicate this in my reef tank

I would think the first 2 and last 2 hours of sunlight offer little PAR due to the angle of the sun. Therefore we run our lights 7-8 hours. Anything longer seems to promote algae growth IMO.

For PCs in a Nano. I'd run Actinics 12 hours and the Daylight bulbs 8
