I just woke up this morning to see my yellow tang all battered up here are some pics. Could this be an atack from other tank mates? I got a koran angel, two percules clowns, 2 yellow tail damsels (my guess) snowflake eel and a purple firefish. I just got done doing a water change last night and was not haveing any problems I did just loose a yellow tail damsel teh night after I got them on 25th of march.

I hear tangs get spooked easy...maybe in his sleep a predator scared him and he crashed into rocks kinda looks like a big bite tho...make sure he eats alot to heal

I don't think that is from another fish. The fins aren't damaged at all, it is on both sides and it looks like it follows the latteral line.

I'll look in some books, I have never seen anything like that.

thanks for the responses. I don't believe is from the eel I've never had problem with him and has been in there the same length of time as the tang. I can believe maybe its from being spooked, usually he's more on the defense side and chase away the other fish when there added. I also just added more LR. He does try swimming around and just recently tried jumping out of the tank. The pattern doesn't look like bites but scratches. I got a ten gallon tank maybe I can transfer some water into it put the tang in there with a LR for him to recover would that help?

I put it in thur 26 march there was a minor spike in nitrates and alk. I did a 30% water change which cleared the spikes.

I would follow along these lines........
It's something internal and definitely follows the lateral lines.
