    I second that!

Question - Will anything else besides your body trip it off? (forgive my ignorance with electricity) Im curious if anyone has ever come home to a shut off system because it tripped off. However, now that I think about it, it's probably better to have the tank shut down rather than sticking your hand in a puddle of electricity:eek:

    Installing a GFCI Receptacle

As with every piece of equipment in this hobby I recommend NOT purchasing the cheapest GFCI receptacle you can find to protect your investment and your life. The receptacle I recommend is the Pass & Seymour 20 Amp Specification Grade receptacle:

Specification Grade 20 Amp Duplex GFCI White

You will most likely need to find your local electrical wholesaler (or online) to purchase this item.

When installing you will notice that a GFCI receptacle has two sets of terminal screws labeled "Line" and "Load". To install a single GFCI receptacle in a single space outlet box, simply hook the wires to the terminals labeled "Line", hot to the gold screw and neutral to the silver screw.

Standard receptacles can also be protected by a single GFCI receptacle by connecting them to the terminals on the GFCI labeled "Load". For example say you have a two space box and would like to install a GFCI protected double-duplex (four outlets). First connect the terminals on the standard receptacle to the GFCI terminals labeled "Load", gold screw to gold screw silver screw to silver screw. Then connect the incoming power to the GFCI terminals labeled "Line", again hot to gold screw neutral to silver screw.

It's very easy to be electrocuted while installing GFCI outlets, so please turn off your breaker!!

    ... I forgot to add ...

ALWAYS TURN OFF THE POWER AT ITS SOURCE AND CHECK WITH A GOOD QUALITY TEST INSTRUMENT BEFORE PERFORMING ANY ELECTRICAL WORK!

    I apologize for shouting ...

Almost all hoses will have them in the kitchen, bathroom, etc. But where is your tank plugged into? If its in the living room or bed room, then chances are that it is not a GFCI outlet. So you'll need to put one in.

WHAT? you're not going to get electrocuted - you might get shocked though of course. I am pretty ignorant when it comes to safety and wouldn't spend money on this but I will agree its definitely a good idea.

Whether you'll be just shocked or electrocuted depends on a few variables. It is entirely possible to be killed from a simple 120 receptacle such as KC outlines above.

You can't be too careful, folks. If you're going to do electrical work, make sure the circuit is dead--period. 'Nuff said.
