You know, I had a spill a couple of days ago due to bad o-rings on my overflow fitting. It got me thinking about reverse siphon and possible future spills if I ever lost power and decided that I am going to raise my return loc-line a bit higher. Where I currently have it, it would drain atleast 25% of the water, easily. My sump will only hold about 3-4 gallons and it would definetely floood out and cause a very nasty spill!

I must have wasted a full roll of paper towels that day, ack!

I bet Fletch wishes that this only was a 1 roll of paper towel mess. Fletch, how did this turn out? Is everything ok.

Hi Jay I just got my light up and running again,;D Turns out it wasn't the insulation on the wire at all, It was a loose ground inside the light fixture that tripped the GFCI. All Fixed now. So far all inhabitance seem to be doing ok except my tourch coral is kind of wimpy looking, Hopefully it will perk up.:-/
And Yes I do wish it was only a one roll spill,:hehe: Luckily I don't have carpeting in that room but my hardwood floor was soaked and a lot of the water went into the caller and all over my table saw. John

Hey fletch hope the corals are ok, and the water did not do any lasting damage!

i would send that photo to the company who makes the bulb, coz surely that should not happen! thank the lord for the rcb or there could have been more damage.

how old is the bulb, surely you should not be fronting the cost for a new one!

Sorry about your loss Fletch. Karma to you!

I don't know about MH in aquariums, but I saw bubbles like that in the envelope all the time in bulbs. I used to work maintenance in a department store and they had halogen lights all the time that would do that. Any oil, usually from fingerprints can overheat and bubble the glass. That's why manufacturers tell you to wipe the envelope with alchohol (rubbing, not BEER!) before installing.

The bulbs are about 8 months old and are made by Sun Aquatics I sent them an email with the picture of the bulb, I'll let you know what they say when I get a reply from them.............. John
